Birtley Golf Club 2011 Junior Captain- Harry Carvey

• Here's to great 2011 season, lets hope we can equal our achievements of last season. I'm looking forward to a few more of the younger juniors progress in getting their handicaps and joining the great team spirit we have in the Junior section here at Birtley GC.
• Just for information, Durham City won the Foursomes KO last year and South Moor beat Wearside in the final of the 5 Man KO.
• 18/2/11 The draw for the County 5 Man Ko has been made & we have got Durham City at home. tie to be played by 19th June.
• 18/2/11 The draw has been made for the County Foursomes KO & we have drawn Ravensworth at home. Again the tie has to be played by 19th June.
• 14/4/11 The 5 Man KO v Durham City has been arranged for Monday 23rd May. watch the Jnr notice board for team details
• 14/4/11 Congratulations to Dean Wales on winning his first Gents competition. Dean stole the title in the Leith Gold Medal with a solid 38 stableford points. well done, its the first of many wins i'm sure.
• 23/4/11 The Foursomes KO v Ravensworth (at Birtley) has been arranged for Tuesday 10th May
• 15/5/11 Unfortunately Jonny & Harry lost the Foursomes KO at home to Ravensworth. it was one of those nights when nothing went right for the lads.
• 23/5/11. Birtley beat Durham City in the 5 man KO. Ryan, Dean Jonny all winning their games. Harry & Ben narrowly losing their games on the 18th. In a match which was played in a gale force wind, all five players deserve huge praise for pulling off a great result.
• 23/6/11 We have been drawn away to Wynyard in the 5 Man KO. the tie must be played by the 17th July. Watch the Jnr notice board for team details.
• 14/7/11. unfortunatley we had to give the match to Wynyard in the 5 Man KO due to a lack of available players. Sickness & work commitments ment we only had 2 players available on the day.
• 18/7/11. its a tie in the league between ourselves and Chester Le Street as to who is relegated. a play off is required at a neutral venue, date to be arranged.
• 20/8/11. Congratulations to Dean Wales for getting his first Hole in One.
• 25/8/11. A great day out was had by all who attended the Junior Captains Day at Hexham Golf Club. A beautiful & challenging course making it a memorable day for all. Winner on the day was Ryan Nicholson with Mark Hammond & 2011 Captain Harry Carvey close behind in joint second.
• 29/8/11. well done to Harry, Ben, Jonny, Ryan & Chris in winning the relegation play off v Chester Le Street (played at Heworth GC), we now stay in the top league for 2012.
• 31/8/11. Don't forget the Triangular Match v Ravensworth & Heworth (to be played at Birtley this year) on the 8th Oct. we need 8no players for this game, please put your names on the list pinned to the Jnr notice board if you can play. Ravensworth won it last year purely as they had a full team, lets take the trophy on our home course.
